Oatmeal Bread

This is what I make when we need bread but I've run out of milk.


1 1/2 cups boiling water
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
2 T shortening
2 tsp yeast
3/4 cup warm water
1/4 cup honey
5 cups flour


Combine water and oats and let sit until slightly cooled. Add remaining ingredients, mix as for bread. Let the dough rise about 30 minutes covered, then divide into two balls and place into two greased bread pans. Let rise covered again about 45 minutes, then bake 25 minutes at 375.
