Homemade Chocolate Sauce

When I was growing up, my mom would make this chocolate sauce to have on ice cream. It is amazing and definitely worth the time spent! It also keeps well in the fridge for a long time.

1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup milk
1 cup corn syrup
2-4 T butter
1 tsp vanilla

Mix cocoa, sugar and salt. Add milk and corn syrup. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. Bring to a full rolling boil and let it go for 3 minutes. Remove from heat, add butter and vanilla. Store in a glass jar in the fridge. Before using, microwave a little so it's not too thick.
